There are many proven benefits from meditation. The purpose of meditation is to restore yourself by bringing calm and allowing yourself to mindful. It increases your attention span, helps you be more patient and improves your sleep.
If you wish to seek the benefits of meditation, I would suggest starting really small, especially if you never practiced before. I would suggest meditating five minutes a day, for a week, and then perhaps do 10 minutes the following week. You can keep increasing your intervals, if you like, or just stick to what is comfortable.
For a habit to stick, it is important to start small, and build up your confidence.
