Hey bookworms!

Let’s talk about books! This is a post where I discuss all the books that I have been reading, by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to myself this week, so I wasn’t able to finish a lot of books as I was hoping for. I managed to finish one book, which was a really good book.

  1. What have I finished reading?

This book was suspenseful. It is my first book that I have read by Chris Bohjalian. I can’t wait to read his other stories. This novel tells the tale about how a flight attendant, Cassie finds her in some trouble. She just traveled to Dubai as one of her travels for work. She wakes up in the wrong hotel room, where she finds out she is laying next to some guy. She then looks at him, and realizes that he is dead. She is far way from home, and doesn’t know what she do.

I can’t wait to start watching the TV show soon.

My rating: 3.75 stars out of 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I first picked up this book up when I wanted to watch this series. I have this thing, that I like reading the books before I watch the shows, or movies.

3. What will I read next?

I love reading Ruth Ware, she writes suspenseful, and thriller novels. I haven’t read one of her books in awhile. I have been waiting for this book a little while now from the library.

WWW Wednesdays – February 10th, 2021

Hi everyone, I’m just trying to play catch up over here! I hope everyone is doing well!

Let’s talk about books! This is a post where I discuss all the books that I have been reading, by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

I had an amazing week last week. I was able to read three books!

  1. What have I finished reading?

I read this book in middle school. It was a really book. I loved it. This book tells a tale about friendship, and courage. A new girl becomes best friends with her neighbour. She shows him the woods by their houses, a place where only they know. They decide to call it Terabithia. It was a place that made them forget about the bullies at school. It’s such a heartfelt story. After I finished reading the book, I watched the movie with my boyfriend. What I loved about the movie, is that they kept it the same from the book, I love that about movie adaptations. It is targeted for middle school kids, but you can still enjoy it if you’re an adult, too.

My rating: 5 stars out of 5

I felt nostalgic, so I wanted to read other books from my middle school days. My Mom, and my Dad bought me this book set collection for my 13th birthday. I loved reading these books, although, I haven’t actually read all of the books before. My mom and I started to read these books together, since she read them when she was younger, too. Although I guess we just got busy with life, and didn’t get to finish these books. There are nine books in the series, and I believe my mom and I got to the third book.

These stories are based on real life adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family during the pioneer days. Her father worked really hard to hunt enough food for his family. Laura is the middle child, and she loves playing with her sisters, and helping her mom out with the chores. She also loves hearing her Dad sing, and play on his fiddle before bed.

My rating: 5 stars out of 5

This is the second book of the series. I thought I may as well read this book, too. I can these quite fast. I love the illustrations throughout the book. Garth Williams have done illustrations for Stuart Little, and Charlotte’s Web. In the second book, it is about their move from Wisconsin to Kansas City, and all of the adventures about building a log house, going into town. I really enjoy this book, a lot. I would recommend these books to anyone.

My rating: 4 stars out 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I picked this book again, after I read some of my books from my middle school days. This book is suspenseful. Flight attendant, Cassie wakes up in a hotel room, with a hangover, from drinking the night before. What she notices is this isn’t her hotel room. And she soon realizes that she wakes up to a guy she was hanging out with the night before. She takes a closer look at him, and discovers that he isn’t breathing. She can’t remember much, or anything at all for that matter. She is far away from home, and not sure what to do next.

3. What will I read next?

I am so excited for this book. I have amazing things about this book, and TV show. I haven’t watched the show yet, but I would love to read the books first, so I can watch the show.

What are some of the books you have read, or will like to read? Let me know in the comments!

  1. What have I finished reading?

I loved this book, it’s almost like Breakfast Club meats Gossip Girl. It’s about how the Brain, the Princess, the Criminal, the Athlete and the Outcast all end up in detention together. Five of them walk in, but only five of them walk out. The student’s death is ruled to be suspicious. The student died before he was about to expose secrets of the other four students, who now are accused of being a suspect. So what exactly happened in that detention room? And just how far will you go to protect your secret?

My rating: 4 stars out of 5

This is Karen M. McManus’ debut novel. I am really starting to like reading her novels.

I have been spending a lot of time reading last week and this week. I feel proud of myself. My goal is to read 100 books by the end of the year.

And

Wow! This book was amazing! I can see why it won the Goodreads Choice 2015 Winner. Rachel takes the same train ride every day, she knows the route like the back of her hand. She sees this couple, so much, she feels like she knows them. She refers to them as Jess and Jason. She can see how happy they are, and wonders why she can’t be that happy. Until one day, she discovers that everything is about to change, and nothing was ever the same again.

My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

I can’t wait to watch the movie this weekend. I have had this book sit on my bookshelf for almost six years, before I was finally able to make time to read.

2. What am I currently reading?

I am so excited to read this book. It’s about a flight attendant who has a drinking problem, and wakes up next to a guy who is dead in a wrong hotel room. She has no memory of last night, since she has a drinking problem, and would often have blackouts. I am going to be starting to read this later tonight.

  3. What will I read next?

Because my goal is to read 100 books by the end of the year. I fell a bit behind with my reading, so I ended up reading a few shorter books, so I can stay on par with my schedule. That is why I have read these two books the other day.

  1. What have I finished reading?

This book is written by Admiral William H. McRaven (U.S. Navy Retired) about how you can do small things that can change the world. He wrote a speech for a graduating class about how we area capable of changing the world. It is a really inspiring book.

This book talks about how we have the power to either make today work, or don’t work. How we spend our time will determine whether or not we will be successful, or not. The power lies in how we can spend our days. Do we spend time working on our goals, or do we scroll through Facebook, asking ourselves, why we don’t have time to do the things we want to do. It is another inspiring book, too.

My rating: 4 stars out of 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I am going to finish this book by Wednesday, so I can write about it. So far, it is amazing! I feel bad that I had to put it down to help my family with things.

Top Ten Tuesdays #21 – January 19th, 2021

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple: Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/ in your Top Ten Tuesday post.

This week is all about books that you meant to read last year, but the year got away from you, and you didn’t have a chance to read them. Perhaps you can read them this year, I know I will be doing that.

  1. The Queen’s Gambit

I haven’t had the chance to read this book yet, but my interest grew, because I know there is a Netflix series. I have been waiting to get a copy from the library, so I haven’t had a chance to watch the show yet. But I am really excited to check this out. I have heard wonderful things about it. It’s crazy because this book was first published in 1983, and Netflix helped made this book more popular.

2. The Guest List

I love reading thrillers, and this book is the perfect cozy mystery, where there is a murder at a wedding, and everyone there becomes a suspect.

3. Midnight Library

There is a library that showcases books of what might have happened had you made different choices in your life. It is an enchanting tale. I can’t wait to get read it from the library.

4. Anxious People

A bank robbery goes wrong, and the robber runs away from the bank and storms into an apartment of strangers at a viewing. The robber takes the group of strangers for hostage. The strangers realize that they have more in common then they had realized. They realize that they all have secrets and grievances. I have heard that it is an emotional, but humourous.

5. The Chef

I first saw this book at the library, and I got it for my boyfriend to read. He didn’t read it in time, so I had bought it for him for his birthday. I still haven’t read it yet. I plan on reading it soon, since the story takes place just before Mardi Gras. A police detective and a food truck becomes Louisiana’s Most Wanted. He believes that his city is under attack. Although he isn’t exactly sure where what is going to happen, although he only knows that innocent lives are at risk.

6. Little House in the Big Woods

Phot Credit: Goodreads

I recently got reunited when I was organizing my belongings. This was in one of my containers from when I finally went through my belongings of my old room from my mom’s. I received the book set for my 13th birthday. It made me sad that my mom and I never finished this series, since life got too busy for us. It’s the real adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family. A cherished story from generations about how her family prepared for cold winters, and how they worked together to ensure they were ready.

7. The Flight Attendant

I kept on seeing the commercial for this show on the TV, and I came to the realization that it is a based off of a book. I was quite intrigued. I was so excited that I was able to get it from my library not too long ago. I just got to finish a few books before I start reading this book. I cannot wait! Cassandra who is a flight attendant and a binge drinker, so blackouts and not being able to remember the night before aren’t uncommon for her. One morning she finds herself waking up in a wrong hotel room, and a man who is laying in his own blood, dead. She has no memory of what happened, and she is far away from home.

8. The Secret Garden

I bought this DVD not too long ago, and I have been meaning to watch it. But I have never read this book before, I would love to do that one day. It’s about a young English girl who moves from England to India after the traumatic loss of both her parents. Her memories of her parents are not pleasant since her parents were selfish, and neglectful. She moves to India to live with her uncle. Upon her arrival she is rude towards her uncle. Once he is away from their home, she discovers a walled garden that is always locked. She then hears a a sobbing sound somewhere in her uncle’s mansions, although the servants ignore her, or pretend they haven’t her concerns. The mystery sparks her interest and curiosity.

9. Charlotte’s Web

The book about friendship, love and death. Charlotte tells her feelings to a pig named Wilbur, who he wants a friend. They express their love for a girl named Fern, who takes care of the pig on her family’s farm. This book always hold a spot in my heart. I loved this book for just over half of my life. I first read it in the seventh grade for a school project.

10. Where the Crawdads Sing

Long ago, people suspected a quiet fishing village was haunted. Kya Clark who lives carefree in the wild. When one day, one of their villagers has died, everyone suspects Kya. But Kya isn’t who everyone thinks she is. She has one day of school, and she learns everything from the wild. There comes a time where she wants to be touched and yearned. Two men become attracted to her ability of being able to survive on her own. She begins to open herself up — until the unthinkable happens. In this thought provoking book about how isolation effects and influences our behaviours. I have heard many great things about this novel, especially since most of us have been isolation from the pandemic of the coronavirus. It is Delia Owens’ debut novel.

Let’s talk books! This is a post where I talk all about books by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I be reading next?
  1. What have I finished reading?

This book was amazing! I really enjoyed reading it. I liked that it was easy to be able to relate to Jay Gatsby. I haven’t read this book before, but I have seen the movie, the one that Leonardo DiCaprio stars in, back in 2013. I loved the movie, and I can’t wait to watch it again this weekend. It was a short read, which is good, because I didn’t have a lot of time for reading this week.

2. What am I currently reading?

I haven’t officially started this one yet, but I will start reading it tomorrow night.

3. What will I be reading next?

I saw a lot of commercials for this show, and when I was researching where to watch it, I realized it was based off of a book. It made me really excited that my library had it, and I was able to get it fairly quickly. I cannot wait to start reading this.
