One Year Later…

A year ago, today, I was hit by a car walking to work. I haven’t even told many people in my family, I guess I just didn’t want them to worry about me. Not many of my family follows my blog, at least not yet anyway. I was extremely thankful and lucky that I didn’t die, or suffer any life threatening injuries from my accident. I only suffered bruises and a bit of swelling. Not even a broken bone. I think my Guardian Angel was my Great Aunt. I like to think that she was watching over me protecting me that day. I remember the last time, I had visited her, she called me her girl, and hugged me. I knew that I always held a special place in her heart.

If you would like to read the original story of my accident, although it may be a bit graphic for some readers. I tried my best not to be too graphic. You can read the original story here, https://threeyellowdaisies.ca/2020/05/29/second-chance/ The purpose of this post is to provide hope and wisdom to other people, and not so much of the story of the accident.

Now I spend my days trying to cram doing all the things that make me happy throughout my days, because we truly don’t know when our last day may be. I was able to start writing my blog again, five months after my accident. I first started this blog in May of 2015, and managed to write it for a year, and took a break, and nearly forgotten about it for four years. But here I am, back and better than ever. And here to stay.

I know that they are many people who lose their lives due to motor vehicle accidents every year. In Canada there were 1,922 people who died in 2018 from a motor vehicle traffic collision. (1) I am truly sorry for everyone who has lost a loved one from a car accident. My heart goes out to you all.

A year ago today, I am reminded that any one of us can die so suddenly, so let’s not waste a day, or even a second for holding a grudge, or hatred towards someone. Why waste a day, being anything, but happy? We should make every one of our days count for something. We should add joy and happiness in someone else’s day. The best part is that doesn’t take a lot of effort. When we make other people happy, it also makes us happy, too. It’s a win win situation. And sometimes people don’t get so lucky with having a second chance at life. So find something that makes you happy, and brings joy to your life. Life truly does go by pretty fast, faster than we think.

I hope everyone can use this tragedy as a reminder to go out and find your passion. Really start living your life. You don’t know what the future is going to bring you, so don’t let it pass you by.

A year later, I still feel pain from time to time in my right thigh where I got hit. I still get a bit anxious going out for a walk, especially at busy interactions, and busy roads. I have always been cautious crossing the street before my accident. And now, I’m even more cautious, if that’s even possible. I avoided having to do any obligations and errands for today, so I don’t have to go outside. It must sound a bit lame, but I just don’t have the strength to go out on the anniversary of my accident.

Getting hit by a car, really changed my life for the better. It gave me motivation to take over my life, again. I learned that I was too focused of living my life to other people’s standards, and not so much as to my standards. I was doing something that people wanted me to do. I even started studying accounting a few years ago, since people told me that I should be an accountant, because I was organized, had a good memory, and good with numbers. I learned that maybe, that’s what I’m not meant to do. And now I am slowly doing the things I want to do for myself. I found my true passions. In the fifth grade I wanted to be a writer, and right now I have been dedicating time to write. I want to add joy to people’s lives, by helping them see the good in themselves, and helping them realize that things do get better.

Throughout the year, other areas of my life have changed, my boyfriend and I no longer live with his family, but now we live with his friend and his family. I no longer work at that coffee shop. Not for reasons related to the accident. That’s just how life worked out for us. I couldn’t be more happy. I was working for someone else’s dreams, and not really have a lot of time to focus on my dreams, and what my passions are. Right now, I have been focusing on my blog, and writing some stories. That is what I am passionate about.

I see this day as a reminder to live my life, chase after my dreams, not try to appease what people want me to do, or they say to me when I’ve just been writing some ideas down. Even though the accident didn’t make much sense, like I always asked myself, why did that happen to me? Why did I lived? I really started questioning my purpose. I’m not working at the moment, but I have been using this time to work on what I am passionate about, which is writing. How thankful I am that I only ended up with bruises. Because I know, not everyone is as lucky. I am thankful that I still get to help others, and that I get to be here for my loved ones. The universe saw something greater in me, than I was capable of seeing in myself, and the universe didn’t want my story to end. This accident ignited a fire in me, that I should do something in my life. It reminds me to always find my purpose and happiness, and go in that direction, and not move backwards.

I hope that people can take away that their life doesn’t last forever, only their legacy does. It’s best not to waste your purpose by living someone else’s dreams. Go and chase your passion. Life is limited, so go out there and make something out of your life.

Kaleidoscope

Here is an inspiring quote to bring you positive vibes to help you overcome any obstacles throughout the week.

I love this quote because it is a simple reminder that no matter how broken you may be or think you are, you are simply falling into place that you need to be. If we aren’t broken, how else will the light come through us?

It is also a reminder that we often fall in love with broken things, like stained glass murals, kaleidoscopes, etc. And that we fail to realize that we love broken things. Although when we are broken, we fail to see the beauty and strength in others, and even in ourselves for that matter.

So next time that you feel like you’re broken, just remember that you are still strong, and beautiful and that you are still lovable, no matter what.

The Ocean – Weekly Quote

This is your weekly inspiration! This is to remind you that no matter what happens this week, we have the ability to calm ourselves down.

Just keep breathing, and realize that you have a purpose, so you just got to keep on fighting and remain strong.

Self Worth

Here is your weekly quote to help you get by.

I love this quote because it reminds me to always remind myself of my self worth. You are stronger than you think you are. Always remember how truly amazing you are. You were sent to be a part of the world, and the world can’t exist without you.

You should surround yourself with the people who bring out the best of you, not the worst in you. You should hang around with people who see your value and purpose.

Reminder of Our Perseverance

Last week, I was talking to my second cousin, and she has had a lot on her plate as of lately. I am fortunate that I am someone that she trusts enough to talk about these things with. I am happy to say that I give her so much support and love. Although I wish we live closer, but I hope we can catch up again soon. I miss her so much.

She has been dealing with some family drama and disagreements, and let’s face who hasn’t? I love sharing my wisdom with others. I enjoy helping people. She often feels overwhelmed and that whatever she is doing, is not enough. I always remind her, that what she is thinking is totally false, she just needs to change her mindset.

“It’s only a thought… and a thought can be changed.”

-Louise Hay

We are grateful to have each other in our lives.

I’m sure they are many people out there that can relate to dealing with family drama, and having relationship problems. (Talking to my cousin about this, has inspired me to write about how to solve relationship problems and conflicts, more to come). Don’t feel bad for not having “the perfect family”, no one really does, no matter how difficult that is to admit.

She has been addressing unhappiness with her job, as well. It’s easy for her to hate the world, and feel defeated with everything. But that isn’t the case, I tell her every chance I get of how amazing she is.

For everyone out there who may be dealing with one or all of these situations, it might be easy to just give up and roll over. But don’t! Use all of these challenging times as stepping stones to build something better.

I told my cousin, that it’s okay to have to go through these battles. It is mostly about how you deal with these confusing times. It’s truly important that during these times, they are handled in a healthy way. Using addictive alternatives (such as alcohol, drugs, sex, etc.) to cope with these struggles, it only fixes things temporarily, they do NOT solve problems in the long term. Resorting to such dangerous coping mechanisms only numbs your pain. I have learned from close friends in my life, that numbing the pain for awhile, just hurts even more when you finally feel it.

My suggestions to help you cope with all of these feelings, is to build a support system, where you can talk to trusted people about with what is happening in your life. Or just having one person is helpful enough. And if you don’t have anyone you feel comfortable discussing this with, which is okay, by the way, then that brings me to my alternative solution.

Write in a journal, write about anything you want, let it flow onto the page. You don’t have to let anyone read it if you don’t want to. It can be just for your eyes only. I am one who never had many friends, so I had to learn to be my own best friend.

Another thing, I have told her that starting a new job can be scary and terrible, but so is staying at a lousy job. Your life is far too short to spend it being anything but happy. So I recommended that she looks for another job, but at the same be thankful that she still has a job.

Everyone experiences relationship problems, but we should see it as an opportunity to discuss things that you are not happy with, and begin to think of solutions. You have to go through a storm to get a rainbow.

On our lower days it’s easy to just stay in bed, not wanting to deal with the world. Been there, done that and didn’t get much done. But what is important is that we make the time to take care of ourselves. It’s the simple things that add so many benefits. It’s the little things like making your bed, brushing your teeth and hair. They all make you feel so much better. And by doing those things takes no more than 15 minutes, and you will feel so much better. When you make your bed, you get a sense of accomplishment, and it gets the ball rolling for you wanting to do something more, and more.

When you are constantly allowing yourself to drown in everyone else’s lives and thoughts, it’s easy to forget about your needs and wants. Learn to take some time for you every day, not just on your lower days. Learn to set aside 15 minutes of your day, just on you. Or a little longer, depending on how you feel. Take a long, hot shower, or a warm bath with Epsom salts, and whatever else you need to feel relax and unwind.

Practicing meditating and doing various yoga poses can also help you de-stress, too. There are so many more videos are YouTube to help you. Perhaps, you are more into the arts, so maybe drawing or painting, may benefit you more. You just got to follow your heart and decide what is going to bring you the most joy.

“”Anyone out there who’s in junior high, high school, working it out, suffering — There are days you’re going to feel sad, you’re going to feel angry, you’re going to feel scared, that’s nothing you can choose, but you can make stuff. Make films, draw, write, It will make a world of difference.”

-Pete Docter, Inside Out Director Academy Award Acceptance Speech

Everyone should think what they truly want to happen from all of these difficult times. Everything happens for a reason, and it takes a bad apple to appreciate a good apple. Because we are going through tough times, we all get to decide why these things are happening to us. We decide why the universe threw all of this at us. Think of what you want to happen next. Think of goals or skills you would like to accomplish. Be as specific as you can. From there you can write about small manageable goals that you do in order to achieve your big goal. Be sure to let your support team know when you have accomplished your small goals, so they can celebrate you!

What ever you may be going through today, always remember that you are going to make it. What’s important is that you continue to love yourself in the process. Never stop loving yourself, or you will lose yourself. And a world without you, is not a lovely world. The world needs you — exactly how you are. The genuine you, not the person you pretend to be. Always stay true to yourself. You are always enough, and you are always loved.

With Love,
Three Yellow Daisies xo ❤

Strength

Here is the quote for this week, it is all about having strength to get you through whatever battle you are going through. In case you don’t already know this you are enough, and you are strong enough to overcome any battle. You must keep the faith and believe in yourself to keep on going.

The universe will never give you anything that you can’t handle, the hard times you are enduring, is there to remind you just how strong you are. Never underestimate your true strength and power that is within, and will always within you.

Fighter – Christina Aguilera

I always loved this song a lot. It mentions how even though you are going through a challenging time, you shouldn’t totally disregard from your life, because the fights and challenges you are going through right now, is giving you strength to get by in life. We should thank the tough times we are going through. We can’t have a rainbow without a storm.

It really is a powerful song. It really has helped me be thankful for the struggles and overcome so much. She has written several empowering songs for us, so be sure to stay tuned for another Music Mondays featuring a Christina Aguilera song.

“‘Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter”

-Christina Aguilera, Fighter

Breakthrough

I randomly came across this quote, and it reminded that no matter how terrible seems right now, I realize that I’m not always going to suffer and face bad days. It just means that all of this suffering is preparing me for my transformation. Growing through the concrete is hard work and requires a lot of strength. But once you get to the other side, you’ll realize that it was all for the best and that things worked out for you, far better than you had realized they would have gone.

Let’s use this quote as inspiration and acknowledgement that hardships are preparing us for better days and experiences. Never be afraid of a breakthrough.Breakthroughs add character, and helps you become the person you are destined to become. It reminds me to always be fierce and never back down to something that is going to strengthen me.

Dragonfly

FB_IMG_1461019087188.jpg

I enjoy dragonflies and butterflies. I love what they symbolize because to me butterflies show you that even in the darkest nights you transfer into something beautiful. I also think if you are missing someone and you see a butterfly it’s the universe’s way of saying that person you are missing is okay.

I like how dragonflies remind us how strong we truly are.
