Day 182 of 192

I cannot believe that there are only ten days left of 2020.

It has been really refreshing to clear out my life and finally go through my belongings. It has been such a relief. I am also glad that I was able to help others in the process.

Today, I am donating this notebook to my aunt. My sister and I used to be obsessed with gel pens. We bought this notebook because the purpose of it was to write and draw in it with gel pens. Unfortunately since all of our pens have died, or has gotten lost. This notebook no longer serves us anymore. My aunt still has all of her gel pens, so I’m sure she will find this useful.

Freeing Yourself

Every Friday I write a passage from Eckhart Tolle’s book. He is a world famous spiritual teacher and he encourages us to be present.

“You may think that you need more time to understand the past or become free of it, in other words, that the future will eventually free you of the past. That is a delusion. Only the present can free you of the past.”

-Eckhart Tolle

In this paragraph of his book, Practicing the Power of Now, he is talking about the only way you can free yourself from the past, is to be present. I would like to think that he wrote this by being inspired from Buddha. Buddha describes enlightenment of ending all suffering. So whenever you find yourself in the present, you are able to find enlightenment. Which you may feel enlightened, although other people may feel it faster than others, and that’s okay. The important thing is, is to not give up. Always bring yourself back to the present moment.

Expressing Gratitude

Yesterday Miss Penguin Girl came up to me asking me if I would be willing to take her shift. I already made plans to see my dad and my grandparents but I figured I could always reschedule with them for another day.

Then today when I went to work I saw that she bought me a gift like she said she would. She bought me Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest RideĀ I saw the movie and I absolutely admired it. It’s by far my favourite Sparks’ movie. And she even bought a few giraffe things as well as this Name A Star Gift Box. Although I haven’t opened it yet.

Today I will learn to express my gratitude. It doesn’t have to be something bought but as long as your gratitude is genuine that is what matters.
