Day 116 of 193

Hey y’all, I’m back! I took a small break from my blog to focus on me for a bit.

This is Friday’s item.

My feet never really got that big growing up, so up until a few years ago, my shoes from elementary school stopped fitting me just recently. I am now just getting rid of what doesn’t fit.

I used to wear these shoes in grade six. I loved wearing these shoes for Easter, and having my mom paint my toes with some bold and bright colours.

But unfortunately several years later, they no longer fit, and that’s okay. I just hope that whomever ends up with these shoes, they have many great memories with these shoes as I did.

My Answers

  1. Can you spend a whole day without your mobile phone?
I would like to be able to cut back on my screen, but I don’t think I can go the entire day without my mobile phone. I say that because I like to practice French on my phone, and do a Sudoku puzzle every day.
  2. What are the things you miss after the pandemic ends?
I think I would miss people being genuinely concerned about germs. It seemed to be me like there were a lot of people who didn’t care about germs. I will miss the free time.
  3. Name a country you want to visit.
I have a lot of different places I would love to visit to. But one of them that I am really interested is Bali. I have always wanted to go there since I read Eat Pray Love, and my cousin and I were talking about it. Even though Elizabeth went to Indonesia, my cousin did recommend that I go to Bali, since it is a bit safer.
  4. When can we expect a positive change in humanity?
Hm… this one is a challenging question. I honestly don’t know about this one, but I hope it’s soon rather than later. I would love to see the world become a better place, but it is a fairly damaged environment right now, with all of the hate, and homelessness. But I think that we are starting to take a movement on these topics, so I hope that is enough to embrace these changes.
  5. Have you ever regretted writing a blog on a controversial topic?
I tend to not write about any controversial topics, instead I focus on my experiences and what I have gone through throughout my life. I tend to always make my posts about my life and what advice I can provide to others. I would rather spread love and positive vibes than hate and negative vibes. There’s already enough hate in the world.
  6. What was your favourite subject in school?
I really liked math and science. I liked these subjects because there wasn’t any grey areas to these subjects, you are either right or wrong. I just always had a fascination for numbers and theories.
  7. What is your advice for absolute newbies on WordPress?
I feel like you should spend your time exploring the tools that is available to you. Learn to get familiar with all of these various tools. I like to add tags to my posts, and organize my posts in categories as well. Like most things in life, it will get easier with time and practice.

Perhaps at 12:30 EST, which works out in every time zone, we can have a live meditation that temporary shuts down the world for 20-30 minutes a day. Have a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Then I would journal and blog while sipping a latte. After that I would have lunch, followed a readathon. My boyfriend and I would make dinner. We could watch our show together. Then we would read our book together and go to bed afterwards.
  5. What is one goal you would like to achieve in life?
I want to be happy. I want to write a book.
  6. Which is your favourite book that you’ve read?

October Preview

Okay, so I have thought of four simple goals that I want to work this month. I know there are many habits I want to obtain, but for now I will be focusing on three things to work on. By doing these four things, it will give momentum to add more goals and habits to my routine. The best part is that these are really small changes into my routine.

Goal Number One
I want to complete a Sudoku puzzle* every day. I remember wanting to do this for a long time now. My Grandparents used to do one every day, in hope that it would help my Grandma with her memory since she has Parkinson’s Disease, which then progressed into dementia. She is doing alright now, but my Grandpa thinks that she isn’t going to get any better, so her not getting any worse is good. I was inspired by Grandparents to complete this one goal. I finished my puzzle today.

*There are logical puzzles where you have to place numbers 1 through 9 in each row, column, and box, without duplicating any numbers. It tests your patience and logical, but it can really calming and relaxing, at least that’s how I feel.

Goal Number Two
I would like to add 20 minutes into my day being more spiritual by practicing meditation and yoga. Although I would start by doing 10 minutes of yoga, and hopefully 10 minutes of meditation (practicing meditation at the beginning can be challenging, but once you start practicing more frequently, you start improving). I’ll try this one later tonight.

Goal Number Three
Set at least 30 minutes reading every day. I have been this, but it hasn’t been every day. If I read every day it wasn’t for 30 minutes like I had hoped. By reading for 30 minutes I would be spending less time doing something else, like watching TV. This habit will help me keep my mind active.

Goal Number Four
This one is going to be challenging, but my boyfriend and I are only going to have take away twice this whole month. Not only will this help us by spending less money, but it ensure that we are eating healthier. This goal ripples into other aspects of my life, too. And I am willing to share with you my recipes, too.

I am quite happy with these goals. I’m going to be documenting my goals in a bullet journal.

My blog posts are going to remain the same, but I was thinking about writing more personal posts. In order to do that I may be getting rid of Eckhart Tolle Fridays to accommodate writing more personal posts. But if everything those posts may return at a later date.

What are your goals and anything you wish to accomplish this month?

Sunshine Blogger Award #2

My Answers

  1. Describe life in three words.
    Live Laugh Love
  2. What would your best day look like? Explain.
My best day would be jumping out of bed to practice yoga and meditation, eat a healthy breakfast, shower. Followed by blogging over a cup of tea. My favourite days are the ones where I can be myself, and just take things with ease. I would also spend some outside, soaking up the sun and reading a good book. I would also love to indulge in all of my favourite foods like steak, mashed potatoes and corn. Hang out with my boyfriend and watching hockey, basketball or football to end the day.
  3. Which of your posts is your favorite? Why?
I love all of my blog posts, and I have written a variety of blog posts. I have talked about a Gratitude Challenge, Daily Uncluttering Project, personal things that have happened in my life, like surviving a car accident, talking about different books. Perhaps my most recent favourite post is,
    https://threeyellowdaisies.ca/2020/08/17/weekly-quote-happiness-2/
In the post, I talk about the simplicity of happiness. And that happiness shouldn’t come from another person, or from waiting for something great to happen. Instead happiness should come from within.
  4. What “old person” things do you do?
I like to watch Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy!, I also like to drink tea. I like to go to bed early.
  5. Have you ever thought of moving to another country to live?
I actually would love to do this but I’m sure if I would get home sick. I currently live in Canada, so the winter and coldness can be tiring, but other than that, it is an amazing country to live in. But I would love to either live in Bali or London, England.
  6. What weird food combinations do you really enjoy?
I actually really enjoy pickles and gravy. It all started when I was at my Grandparents’ house and I had slept over shortly after Thanksgiving. I had some gravy still on my plate. I was in the middle of telling a story, with a pickle on my fork, and I was waving my fork around while I was talking (I did that before I realized how rude that was), and my pickle had landed in the gravy. I was like, well I love pickles and gravy, and I didn’t want to waste food at my grandparent’s house. I ended up eating and loving it.
  7. If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?
What are your plans to make an end to wars, and homelessness?
  8. What genre of books is best for your eyes to consume? Can you recommend one book from that genre?
I really enjoy psychological thrillers. One of the books I would recommend is The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware.
  9. What’s the last movie you watched? Do you recommend it?
The last movie I saw was Gone Girl, it’s one of my favourite movies, so yes, I would recommend it. I can’t wait to read the book, soon.
  10. How do you deal with stress?
I normally just read a book, drink a cup of tea, or practice yoga and meditation.
  11. What language would you like to learn?
I would love to learn Italian. In fact that is my goal for 2021. Right now, I’m going to focus on French, and then focus on Spanish after I learn French.

Taxi Driver Chapter Four

Here is the fourth chapter of Taxi Driver, in case you are behind or would like to reread the previous chapters again, here is everything Taxi Driver related.

https://threeyellowdaisies.ca/category/taxi-driver/

I apologize for taking a little longer than usual to write this chapter, but I was able to write something that wasn’t part of the plan. I think it added a nice touch to the story.

Chapter Four

Evan drove back home from visiting his father. He wipes away some of his tears, he was starting to feel bad for himself. He was keeping a secret from everyone, but he couldn’t come clean, at least not yet. He eventually grew the strength to get out of his car.

Evan unlocked the door, and hung up his jacket on a coat hanger in the hallway closet. He then walked into the kitchen, where he saw Elizabeth drinking a cup of tea.

“Hey, how’s your Dad?” Elizabeth asked.
“He’s doing okay, I guess.” Evan said, washing an apple.
“Are you okay? You look like you’ve crying? Did you want to talk about it?” Elizabeth wondered as she hugged Evan.
“Not right now, honey. I”m going to take a shower. I’ll be back shortly. You can think of dinner, I was thinking of take out?” Evan said as he walked upstairs.

Elizabeth felt like something was wrong, but she couldn’t figure it out.

One Week Later…

Evan told his sisters that Saturday mornings are for him and their Dad. His sisters didn’t seem to mind.

As per usual, Evan always bought him and his Dad a cup of tea. Evan was intrigued to find out more of his Dad’s stories. He really enjoyed spending time with him.

“Hey, son! I’ve missed you.” Theodore expressed.
“Yes, me, too. How are you feeling?” Evan questioned.
“Same old, Evan. Now let’s start reading. Stephen or Deryck?” Theodore demanded.

Evan pondered, as he noticed that Theodore hung up his grandchildren’s art work on the walls.

“Perhaps Deryck.” Evan said as he was grabbing the journal from the night stand.

“April 16th, 2004

I had picked up this teenager, who seemed like something was bothering him. But I couldn’t place my finger on it. I figured he was about my age, or perhaps younger, couldn’t quite tell. I tried talking to him, but he kept on shrugging it off. I picked him up from his house, and he was going to a friend’s house. He didn’t say much to me.”

Evan finished reading the journal entry, but he had a question.

“So, Dad, how does your power work? I don’t understand.”

“From what I have gathered, it takes some time reading people’s stories. I normally have to see them at least three times for me to read their problems, and learn what is happening. Although asking my clients questions can give me a general idea of what is going on. Now, son, we don’t have a lot of time left, keep on reading.” Theodore said, coughing aggressively.

Evan nodded, as he turned the page.

“May 12th, 2004

I saw him again, although this time he had told me that his name is Deryck, and he was in grade 12. So I realized that he was about two years younger than me. He seemed more engaging than the last time I had picked him up. He was running late to school, but that didn’t seem to bother him much. I can tell that he was happy that the school year was almost over. He didn’t bother to brush his long, shaggy hair. He seemed to be looking a bit fatigued from the last time I had saw him. He didn’t seem like he was interested in going to school. He had said that he needed to go to English class because he was going to get marked for attendance. I was hoping that I can see him at least one time to truly understand what is going on. Although I did have an idea of what was happening to him. He didn’t have enough money to cover his fare, but I told him not to worry about it. I really didn’t mind.”

Evan paused, thinking of what he could say next. Theodore looked over at him, and asked; “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, I was just thinking.” Evan said,

“About what?” Theodore wondered.

“I don’t even know where to start. Like how do you do it?” Evan asked.

“I am just able to read them once I know more about them. From there I try my best to figure out what would be best for them.” Theodore explained.

Evan continued reading the journal entries, as he finished drinking his tea.

“June 6th, 2004

I saw him for the third time today, and I finally knew what struggles he was going through. He sat down and buckled up, this time he had a serious look on his face. I knew what he had wanted to do before he had said anything. He wanted to rob a bank, since his dad lost his job and his mom didn’t have a lot of money. So he figured he would get the money by robbing a bank instead. I can tell he tried looking for various jobs, but no wanted to hire him. I can tell he was frustrated and hated everything that was going on in his life. I knew that he did drugs so he didn’t have to feel these emotions of not having a lot of money and the embarrassment of not having a job.

His friend would give him his money for drugs. He felt like he needed to rob this bank, in order to help others. I knew that it didn’t have to be this way. So I had to think fast, I decided to take him to an unemployment agency. He looked at me with confusion.

He realized that we weren’t going to the bank. In fact, he became confused that he never told me where he wanted to go. I decided that in order to help him, I had to tell him my secret power.

I had expressed that he was making a mistake. I later explained to him the consequences of his decisions and the lasting impacts it would have on his life. I wanted to help him out the only way I knew how. We talked about the drug use, and how he was hurting himself, which I’m sure his mom wouldn’t be happy with that. I recommended healthy ways to cope with his stress. I let him ride for free since I knew he didn’t have a lot of money.

I gave him a bit of money, and I knew he was going to use it for the best. I gave him my number in case he needed any more help with anything else. I hope he begins to making better choices for himself and for his family, too.”

Evan finished reading the journal, as he cleared his throat.

“You know, what you did for him and Alice was really nice.” Evan expressed as Theodore nodded in agreement.

“We still kept in touch over the years. We wrote to each other all the time.” Theodore said, handing the envelope that read Deryck on it.

Evan began to open the envelope.

“September 25, 2017

Dear: Theodore,

I just want to thank you for you basically saving my life, and made me really want to make better choices for my life. I am about to celebrate my first anniversary of being a bank branch manager. I know it’s quite ironic because I almost robbed a bank.

But I am happy that our paths crossed, because if we haven’t, well I know my life would be a lot different, and I mean for the worst, obviously.

I am forever grateful for you and your family. I enjoy talking to you over the past years, and learning about your family. In fact, I have great news of mine, my wife and I are expecting a baby in February. We are really excited!

Because we waited until we were financially stable, I know that my baby is going to be well, so I know she doesn’t have to rob a bank in her teens.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much again.”

Evan stopped, as he was putting the pieces to the puzzle together.

“Wait, how could I have missed this?! Elizabeth was born in February, and her Dad is a bank branch manager. This is her Dad?” Evan asked.

“Why don’t you finish reading the letter, son?” Theodore suggested.

Evan picked up the letter, and continued reading.

“We were thinking of naming her Elizabeth Grace. I would love for you meet her when she arrives. I can already tell that she is going to be in great hands. My wife, Samantha and I have discussed that we would love to have you and Amelia as her Godparents.

We can tell that you two are amazing with Sarah and Evan. Think it over, and get back to us.

Take care,
Deryck and Samantha”

Evan just sat there. He had no idea that his father in law was friends with his father.

“Your mom and I agreed to be her Godparents. You guys always got to hang out when you were babies. How else do you think you met each other? It was long before you were in the same swimming class, like you all thought it was.” Theodore confessed.

Evan sat there in a bit of shock, he had no idea.

“Two years later, they did move because he got promoted to go to another bank, so they ended up moving for a bit. Although because your mom and I had Olivia, they later moved back here. It was a perfect time since we later signed you up for swimming lessons, which is the story of how you two first met. I first met him when he was 17, and at that time I was 20 years old. I have been a taxi driver since I was 19 years old. We have remained friends for a bit, until we became family.” Theodore reflected.

“That is actually really beautiful, Dad. I enjoyed that story. I had no idea that Deryck felt that way.” Evan said.

“I forgot to tell you that shortly after he went to the unemployment office, he found a job and he stopped using cocaine. He worked at a grocery store and eventually he saved up enough so he went off to university to study finance. He eventually obtained his Masters of Business Administration. He invited me to all of his graduations. It’s like we were brothers.”

There was a moment of silence.

“Son, I am getting really tired, but you should come back again.” Theodore said as he was closing his eyes.

Evan took that as a cue to leave, and return another day.

“I’ll swing by on Tuesday, okay?” Evan whispered, as he was grabbing his coat.

He gave his Dad a kiss on the forehead, and he carefully returned the journal and envelopes back to the nightstand, before walking out of the room.

Thankful Thursdays #8

On Thursday, I had a busy but fun day with family, so that’s why I didn’t post any thing new, but now I am getting all caught up.

I have a lot to thankful for this week.

  1. I saw my niece (on Thursday), we got to hang out for a bit. She’s such a cutie, she’s 17 months old.
  2. I am happy that my boyfriend and I had a fun weekend, we had a little “camp out” in our room, and we watched two movies with snacks.
  3. I am grateful for being nominated for two awards this week. One called The Sunshine Blogger, and the other one was The Liebster Award. It is such a honour to be recognized by fellow bloggers and telling me how much they love my blog.
  4. I am thankful that my Grandparents bought me a cup of tea yesterday. I felt really fortunate to spend time with them, I don’t get to see them that often, so it was a nice treat to see them again.
  5. And finally the last thing I am thankful for is being able to watch all of my favourite sports such as hockey and basketball in the summer.

I would love to hear what you are thankful for this week.

Liebster Award #2

I feel so special to be nominated for this award. Thank you so much Yvonne for the nomination. Her blog is really insightful and inspirational, you should all check it out, joyfulchangewithyvonne.com!

The award is a pay-it-forward acknowledgement, from one blogger to another, that they appreciate your blog and promote others to check it out!

Here are the rules! Everyone that I wanted to nominate for this award, has just recently won this award. And I already nominated a bunch of people for my previous award, so I don’t want to overwhelm everyone with more questions.

Rules

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, and provide a link to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions given to you
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions
  • Notify your nominees once you have uploaded your post

My Questions

  1. Who do you feel most comfortable with, and why?
I feel most comfortable with my sister and my boyfriend, My sister because I grew up with her. When we were younger, I would spend my weekends in her room having a sleepover. We played Barbies, she would read us stories, we would watch movies together. We were always close when we were younger, and we are still close now, but sometimes it can be challenging since life is busy.
I’m comfortable with my boyfriend because we have been together for five years, and we live together. We are comfortable telling each other our hopes and dreams with another. We can be vulnerable with each other.
  2. Who is the kindest person you know? Describe their kindness.
This one is challenging, because I know so many kind people. I would have to say my second cousin is the nicest person I know, because we are able to talk about all sorts of subjects. We give each other advice, and she has great things to say to me. And she even offered my boyfriend and I to spend a few nights at her, when our household was becoming too stressful for me. She thinks of the right things to say to me regarding feedback and encouragement to face my fears. I just enjoy talking to her so much.
  3. What is your favorite blog that you’ve posted? Why?
This one is challenging because I have written so many blog posts… I would probably say, Second Chance, the one where I got hit by a car, because I was inspiring other people to chase their dreams, and to never give up. If you would like to read it, here is the article. I was very lucky that day, because I walked away with only bruises.

    https://threeyellowdaisies.ca/2020/05/29/second-chance/

I am also enjoying writing my short story, called Taxi Driver, because I enjoy writing, and sharing others my creativity.

    https://threeyellowdaisies.ca/category/taxi-driver/

I feel like there are probably other ones that I have enjoyed writing, but those were the first ones to come to mind.
  4. If there was a way you could infuse an act of kindness habit into the everyday life of all people in the world, this habit as natural as the daily action of brushing their teeth, what would that kindness habit be?
I would say spreading joy and positive vibes to others. It could be as simple as, “I like your scarf!” Or “You have a lovely smile, or eyes.” When we compliment people, it not only lifts other people’s spirits, but ourselves as well. Or even just let people know that they are doing a good job with raising their children, or any kind of service; let them know that you’re proud of them.

My Questions
1. What is your favourite three course meal?
2. What is something that makes you angry?
3. Would you rather have a magical machine that cleans your dishes, or washes your clothes?
4.What was the longest span of time you have gone without any sleep?

I am so honoured to be nominated for this award! Thank you so much for In My Feelings, https://xinmyfeelingsx.wordpress.com/ for the nomination. Be sure to check that blog, because it filled with wonderful posts about feelings, thoughts and inspiration. I really enjoy reading your posts.

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog.
2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

My Answers:

1. Give us a little insight into your blog?
My blog is about becoming the best version of yourself, by making better habits, believing in yourself and learning to be comfortable with having less stuff, debt, and other anchors that hold you back. I provide encouraging and positive posts to everyone. My other interests that I love talking about are tea and books.

2. Why did you start blogging and for how long now?
Well, I first started my blog back in May of 2015, blogged for a bit a year straight. I got busy with life, and finally came on May 28th, of this year, and have been blogging consistently since. I began my blog because my coworkers recommended that I start blogging since I was always optimistic, and provided wonderful advice.

3. What has been the most challenging aspect of blogging for you?
Sometimes I feel like it can be a challenge to come up with new posts without coming across as me repeating myself. I have tried new posts, like I have done a Gratitude Challenge, Decluttering Challenge, resetting your finances and now I’m writing some cool stories. One of my favourite topics is Music Mondays, it’s where I post an empowering and uplifting song to help you kick start the week.

4. How do you motivate yourself when you feel discouraged?
Whenever I feel discouraged, I normally would either make myself a cup of tea, or meditate, or practice some yoga poses or go for a walk. I either message or talk about it with my boyfriend, or my best friends or my two cousins. I sometimes journal my thoughts and feelings out. I also like to read to book, or even just take a nap. It really depends on the weather and time of day. Any of the above would help me feel better.

5. What do you enjoy most about blogging?
The things I enjoy the most about blogging is being able to spread joy and positive vibes to other people who may be going through challenging times, or just want to make improvements on their lives. I love being able to give someone my feedback from my personal experiences to help people see that it may be difficult to start these new journeys, but the end results are amazing. I just always believe that you can change your life for the better. And that whatever people are going through right now, it’s only temporary, and things do get better.

6. If you could make one wish, what would it be?
This one is so challenging, because there is so many things I would wish for, but I think I would like to be a bit more famous. And I mean that in a good way, because I feel like I have so much to offer to people. I have great ideas on short story ideas, and I just wish everyone would be able to read my ideas. It would be so cool to go on book tours, and go on talk shows and such. With that fame and money, I will be able to donate money and help out communities in need. I like giving back to others.

7. What makes you the happiest and why?
Writing a short story, or reading a new book with a latte. I enjoy getting lost in a story because it’s like escaping to a whole new adventure. As lame as this might sound, but I picture the characters as people I care for, and see them as close friends of mine. Reading and writing helps relax me, and it’s always fun to be creative. It’s good to keep your mind active and sharp.

8. What do you prefer, calling or texting?
I prefer texting, but I don’t mind a phone call from someone dear. I used to save my big and good news for in person, but now during these times, I save any good news for a phone call. Because my Grandpa lives in a retirement home now, I unfortunately can’t visit him like I used to, so I have to call him instead. It makes me sad, but I am glad that I get to talk to him a lot.

9. Are you talker or listener?
Honestly, I like to be both. I like to give people feedback, but I can’t provide people feedback and advice if I don’t listen to people. By being a talker, I can help and encourage people to want to make better changes for themselves.

10. Your hobbies?
I have a bunch of hobbies. I enjoy reading, writing, making and drinking tea. I love listening to music, cooking and blogging.

11. What appeal to you most soul or appearance of a person?
I am more so attracted to someone’s soul. I try not to judge a book or a person by their cover or their appearance. I appreciate a good, kind heart.
