Minimalist Game Day 21

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. It is okay if you can’t make it until the end of the month. Personally, I would rather see items get donated, or sold to someone else. If you must throw something away, I hope it’s because it isn’t fixable. Even if you have removed three items from your life, you should still be proud of that, because it is three more things you removed before the challenge. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from Sunday March 21st.

Ten old and expired body lotions.
Empty tea tins.

Not photographed
1 colouring book for my niece’s birthday
1 shirt and 1 pair of pants for my niece’s birthday

Minimalist Game Day Eight

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. If you are participating, I would love to know what you are parting with, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is such a fun way to welcome Spring cleaning.

So far I have parted away with 36 items. I am starting to feel a bit lighter already. I can’t wait to make it to the end of the month, because by then I would have parted away with 500 items. That is so exciting for me. I feel very proud of myself for partaking in this challenge.

I am getting rid of two mini backpacks. I am going to give them to my Grandma because I am sure that she will know someone who would want and or need them.

I was given this Name A Star kit, which I’m not sure how it works. But I apparently spent too much thinking of a really cool name for a star, I realized that it had expired. Which is too bad, but then I learnt that I was technically naming a star for Nasa, so… I’m not sure how it actually works.

I had those two towels from my childhood, they were probably part of my birthday presents. They are now old and raggedy. So maybe my Grandma could use them as rags for cleaning, or do something else with them. I already have enough towels.

I have three plants that unfortunately they all passed away. So I’m sure my Grandma can use these for her plants.

Minimalist Game Day Six

This post is from Saturday.

These are my six items.

The first one is an empty perfume bottle that I have kept, instead of throwing it away. I guess I kept it since it was the first gift my boyfriend’s mom gave me.

The second one I’m going to regift to my sister, as part of her birthday present. I have a lot of perfumes, and body sprays.

The last four are various hair products, that I no longer use. My mom gave me to since she didn’t like them anymore.

Thankful Thursdays #36 – March 4th, 2021

This is one of my favourite posts, because I get to talk about what I am thankful for the past week. It is always a good and fun way to end the day, or week with a grateful heart. I would love to hear about yours in the comments.

There are so many benefits of practicing gratitude, so you have never to lose by practicing it. Some of the benefits of gratitude, is you sleep better, and easier, you help lower your stress levels, so it might even be harder for you to feel stress. You also increase your immune system, which helps you decrease your chances of getting sick.

Here is my list from last week…

  1. I am thankful that we got to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. He loved his present, and that I made him brunch, and dinner for us.
  2. I am grateful for being able to go through all of belongings from my old room.
  3. I am thankful that I am starting to declutter again, it really helps me reorganize, and make more room for the things I enjoy.
  4. I am happy that I was able to spend some time with my sister while I was babysitting my niece. Normally she works all day, and then by the time she is done work, it’s dinner, and then my niece goes to bed, and then my sister gets ready for bed, shortly afterwards. But on Tuesday we were able to hang out, and take my niece out to the park, and for a walk. It was a lot of fun.
  5. I am grateful for being able to allocate our finances to pay down our debts. I am really happy that we are on the right path to be debt free. It’s going to take us a little while, but we have spent some time working on what to pay off next. Which is really exciting.

A Special Music Monday

Hey everyone!

This past Monday, it was Justin Bieber’s and Kesha’s birthdays. I used to be obsessed with them growing up, so I have dedicated Music Monday to feature both of these artists. With Justin Bieber, I picked Never Say Never, and for Kesha, I picked Learn to Let Go.

To me, these songs are both inspiring. Never Say Never is remembering us that we should never back down from any obstacle life has thrown our way.

“I will never say never
I will fight
I will fight ’til forever
To make it right
Whenever you knock me down
I will not stay on the ground”

-Justin Bieber, Never Say Never

With Kesha, she has been through so much. I am proud of all of her accomplishments. She is reminding us that we are strong enough to let go of our past, so we can embrace a future filled with opportunity, and hope.

“I think it’s time to practice what I preach
Exorcise the demons inside me
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go
The past can’t haunt me if I don’t let it
Live and learn and never forget it
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go”

-Kesha, Learn to Let Go

Day 59

This is a lesson from Sunday, which happened to be my boyfriend’s birthday.

We had a fun and relaxing day. I made him breakfast in bed. I also made dinner, too. We had bacon, and fries, and a cup of tea for breakfast. Then for dinner, we had steak, and oven roasted potatoes. Then we just spent the day inside, we didn’t really have much planned. I don’t really like to go out if it isn’t essential. My boyfriend didn’t mind that we didn’t go out. He was more than happy to just stay in.

Sometimes we think we need to make some grand gesture for someone’s birthday. But in fact, it’s the opposite really. We can get by with simplicity. We can have a simple birthday, and it will still be specular. I wrote my boyfriend a letter, and I painted him a picture for his birthday. He really enjoyed and appreciated my efforts to make his day feel special. Sometimes what matters more is your presence, and not your presents.

Today, I look for simple ways to make my days special. I don’t need to spend a lot of money or effort to let someone I love them. It’s often that simple things are more memorable, and meaningful than some kind of extravagant effort.

Day 58

For my new followers, thank you for your support. I appreciate the love, and kind words. Every day, I write about life lessons that I have either learned from the day, or sometime throughout my life. I was inspired by Melody Beattie’s book The Language of Letting Go. It’s a book about her daily meditation on codependency. Although her book is focused on codependency, her mediation can be applied to other aspects of anyone’s lives. This is a lesson from Saturday.

My boyfriend’s birthday was on Sunday, so I was trying to paint him a cool picture. The problem is I am a terrible artist, or so I thought that was the problem… But I had this cool image of just what my painting should look like, but sadly that was not the case. I was trying to blend two paints together. It was supposed to be an ocean, so I was going to start the painting with a light blue, and was supposed to blend a darker blue. It was supposed to give an illusion that the water was getting deeper. I couldn’t blend it in nicely. I was telling my boyfriend that I was having a hard time blending the two colours together. My boyfriend tried, and he is more artistic than me. He tried, and he said, that it’s because we don’t have fancy paint brushes. We bought ours at the dollar store, so they aren’t top quality.

I gave up and just painted the mini canvas with a blue, and wrote; “Sending you an ocean of Love”. I used red paint for love, and yellow for the rest. I handed my painting to my boyfriend, and he loved it.

I have learned that we are our worst critics. We often doubt our abilities, and we can say mean stuff to ourselves, when we really shouldn’t. We should learn to be more compassionate to ourselves. We wouldn’t be saying mean things to our friends, or family members. So why we think it is okay to say these things to ourselves?

Today, I will try and remove any hate, and hurtful things that I say to myself. Instead I will try to provide myself with love, and compassion. I will learn to work on being so hard on myself. I wouldn’t say anything mean to my friends, or family, so why should I say hateful things to myself? I need to practice self love, and love myself, for my flaws, and mistakes.

Goodreads Mondays #19 – February 22nd, 2021

Hey bookworms! Let’s talk about books!

I have a lot of books I would love to read. I am trying to spend more reading to try to work through my To Be Read List.

I have bought this book, Help Me: My Perfectly Disastrous Journey Through the World of Self-Help for my boyfriend as one of his birthday presents two years ago. I feel bad because in those two years, neither one of us have read it, yet. I am planning on reading this book once I finish reading my library books.

This book sounds similar to The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It’s similar because Marianne Power plans on reading 12 self-help books in one year. And each month, she plans on following exactly what the book preaches, and then she would see if that book had benefited in some way. She investigates whether or not reading self help books can make your life any better.

Goodreads Rating: 3.90 stars out of 5

Day 178 of 192

Hey everyone! I hope you’re doing well.

I remember my Grandparents getting me this for Christmas several years ago. I don’t need this book anymore. I am going to re-gift to my sister’s step son for his birthday. I’m sure he will enjoy it. He is a winter baby, so he’ll like it even more.

Day 102 of 192

Hey everyone! I am feeling a bit fatigue at the moment, so I am just hoping on for this one post. And I am going to spend some time putting away my summer clothes and pull out my Autumn and winter clothes. As well as declutter a few things, maybe that would help me feel better.

I will definitely be posting more tomorrow.

Today’s item that I am donating is this jewelry holder. My sister gave me a jewelry box a few birthdays ago, and it has an engravement of “Love You Forever xoxo”, so I no longer need this. It was really cute, but I feel like I outgrew this. Instead, I was thinking of giving this to my niece when she is a bit older. I hope she likes it, too.
