Day 45

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Valentine’s Day. I had a decent day, despite the fight before Valentine’s Day. Things got better between my boyfriend and I.

It’s important that we continue to show each other love and respect, not just because a holiday tells us to, but because that is what we feel in our hearts. Remember to show love to those that we care about the most. Some ways that we can demonstrate our love to others is by writing a letter, making dinner, reading that person a story, telling them a joke. There are so many ways where you don’t have to spend money to show your appreciation to others. It’s also part of my February resolutions of my Happiness Project, to show and give tokens of love.

Let’s not wait around for a holiday to tell each other how much we adore them. We can do that any day, and we don’t have to spend a fortune either.

Today, I will make a promise to express love and appreciation to the ones I love, no matter what. It doesn’t have to be some extravagant expensive gesture either.

Day 40

This lesson is from Tuesday.

For those who are new to my blog, I like to write about a lesson and an affirmation that I either learned that day, or sometime ago throughout my life. I hope my wisdom helps inspire others.

I got the pleasure to baby sit my niece on Tuesday. I love that I get to hang out with her. It’s currently our winter right now, so I am able to take her outside and let her play in the snow. She loves sledding. I make sure she is all bundled up since it has been really cold over here. It sort of reminds me in the fall time, that even though it may look nice out, I should still bring a sweater with me, just in case. In the winter time, I like to bundle up, too. But it just brought back a memory of the times where I felt like I didn’t need to bring a sweater, and in fact, I actually did.

Today, I will for sure bundle up to ensure that I stay warm and cozy, no matter how nice the weather may be. It’s best to be warm, and cozy, than cold, and sorry.

Day 19

I couldn’t really sleep the night before, so I decided it’s best to do something productive with my time. At the same I was always doing something to fall asleep, as well. I began reading some of my book, that helped a bit, but it still wasn’t enough. I began writing in my journal, because I thought maybe I was feeling a bit too stressed out about things. I started thinking about some writing ideas. After I released my thoughts, I just laid there, trying not to think about anything for a couple of minutes.

That didn’t work, so I put on my favourite show, Grey’s Anatomy. That is my comfort show, I must have watched it a million times already. And that seemed to do the trick.

Whenever I can’t fall asleep, I will try to do something productive with my time, instead of just laying there, tossing and turning in my bed. If that doesn’t work, I will try to resort into watching a show, or a movie to help me fall asleep. Or vow to myself to make an evening routine.

Day Nine

I have learnt this from Gretchen Rubin, and her book The Happiness Project. As part of her section called Secrets of Adulthood, she mentions that “What may be fun for you doesn’t mean it’s fun for others.” I have always thought about that, but I haven’t actually considered it. As bad as that may sound.

Like today, I wanted to watch the football playoffs, but my boyfriend didn’t really seem that interested in them. I kept on asking him about him throughout the day. I could have just watched the games on my laptop, I had no issue, but he wanted to just lay there on his phone all day. He didn’t really have an interest for all of the games.

Sometimes this may be challenging to accept that there might be other people who disagree with you and what you do for fun. But this is okay. This sort of shapes you in who you are as a person. The world might be a bit boring if everyone liked the same things, and disliked the same things as well.

Today, I will understand that the things I enjoy may not be for other people. And what’s fun for them, may not be fun for me either.

Day Eight

Today I was reminded of an important lesson, to take things one thing, and one day at a day. It is easy to feel overwhelm by things. I feel a bit behind with my blog posts. But what I like to do, is to prioritize the next thing that needs to be done, and solely focus on that task at hand. Then once that is done, you can take a small break, or save it until after the next task.

It’s important to realize that you shouldn’t have to overwhelm yourself. Instead take a different approach, and single task things, by taking one thing at a time.

I used to be like my mom and multi-tasked a lot because I saw that she would always do that. But now, I am happy that I only single task things. I feel so much better. I am able to think more clearly. I have been trying to convince my mom to practice this trait, but she hasn’t gotten on board yet.

Today, I will learn to take things slowly, and try to focus on one task at a time. I know that there are only 24 hours in a day, and I should only focus on those 24 hours. Learn to take things one day, and don’t let tomorrow’s stresses ruin your today.

Day Three

Every day I will be posting and talking about life lessons and daily affirmations. I cannot wait to share my wisdom with others. Even though I am still in 20’s, I still feel like I can provide people with some of the life lessons I have learned. I hope this blog universe becomes even more of a safe place to talk about our feelings, and experiences. Although I would never force anyone to share something that they aren’t comfortable with.

Because life is extremely short and unpredictable, we should learn to fill every day with something that we love doing. Bonus points if you do this activities with someone you love. Perhaps you enjoy drawing, or singing, or reading, or something totally different. By ensuring you spend time doing you love every day, even if it is just 15 minutes, you increase your chances of improving yourself from that goal. And I believe in that saying that it takes 10,000 hours to master something. Not only does spending your day doing something you love, add happiness in your life, you can also improve your skills.

And who knows, maybe partaking in this habit, you may realize that maybe this is something you would want to do as a full time job, or for a charitable cause. Sometimes our hobbies can become just more than hobbies.

We never know what type of obstacles life is going to throw our way, tomorrow or next week, so it becomes even more relevant to do the things that makes us happy. Which is always important to start your day or end your day with something you love doing.

Today, I will find the time to do something that I will add happiness throughout my day. No matter how busy or tiring my day may be, I will do something every day that excites me, and adds joy.

Day Two

Let’s about engaging in healthy exercise habits. We should go out for walks, eat healthy, and continuing to move our bodies. Studies say; “Sitting is the new smoking.”, which means sitting is nearly as bad as smoking. It is important to start the day with being active.

Let’s start small, and continue to build ourselves up. Learn to spend 15, 20 minutes just focusing on moving our body, and continue to be active. If you aren’t someone who has made a lot of time in the past to exercise, it will take a bit of time to get into the habit of exercising. But there is no reason to be hard on yourself, and give up.

We just got to put in some time and energy. Which is important to start small, because you don’t want to over do it and hurt yourself in the process. It also becomes less stressful if you don’t think about the results, instead of you just do it, to better yourself, so you can reap the benefits of exercising. There are many benefits to exercising. And there are a variety of ways that count towards exercising like stretching, taking a walk, lifting weights, riding a bike, swimming, etc. Some of these benefits of exercising include a healthy of way to destress, improve cognitive thinking, increased immune system, better sleep, and so many other benefits.

Although I would recommend not exercising too close to bedtime, since it might recharge you, where you become too alert to fall asleep.

Today, I will put some effort and energy into exercising. In the process I will not compare myself to others, instead I will just focus on my abilities. I will show up every day to better myself. I will think of the benefits, instead of the pain.
