I got to watch my niece twice this week, which was really exciting! I like to follow the superstitions for the Lunar New Year, which is to not clean, especially not to sweep, as they believe you are “sweeping” away your luck. I knew that I was going to be watching her on the Thursday, and I knew I was going to stay at my sister’s late. So I made sure on the Wednesday that my house was relatively clean. I cleaned my bathroom, and kitchen, and then tidied my room. I was all ready for the Lunar New Year!
I spent the whole day on Wednesday freshening up my place. What helped was that I have a chore/cleaning schedule already in placed. Having a cleaning schedule is really useful, and helpful. I find it so much easier to set aside 15-20 minutes a day, then it is setting aside four hours in one day. I feel like it’s less stressful, as well.
Today, I will try to eliminate stress by organizing and planning my chores every day, instead of finding one day throughout the week to do all of my chores. I can now use the day that I would spend my time cleaning, as a day of rest instead.
The other night, my boyfriend and I were discussing something, and he could have handled it better. I get that it was a stressful topic. But just because something is stressful, it does not give someone a free pass to say something mean to the other person. When things get stressful, it is important to stay calm, and not to lash out by something you will regret the second you say it.
“Two things to remember in life”
Take care of your thoughts when you are alone, and take care of your words when you are with people.”
Learn to refrain from saying anything mean to another person just because you two are fighting or having a disagreement.
Today, I will learn to carefully about my thoughts that I wish to share and contribute to the person I am talking to. I should learn that my tongue has the power to heal or the power to hurt someone. I should make sure that I speak only kind words. I should choose my words wisely, to ensure that I don’t hurt anyone in the process.
I am so sorry for being a bit M.I.A. these past few days. I have been helping my sister, and my mom with some things. The days seemed to go by a lot faster than they usually do. Here am I trying to catch up with everything. I will definitely make more time to stay on top of my blog.
I hope everyone is doing well, and I can’t wait to get back in touch with everyone. I would love to know what everyone has been up to these past few days. Let me know in the comments.
Thank you for the continued support and love throughout my blog journey. I love it.
I hope everyone is having a good week, my week could definitely be a bit better.
I didn’t draw this, but I came across this photo on Facebook. I love Oprah Winfrey and quotes.
But with this whole pandemic going on, I have been doing some soul searching and wanting to try new things. One of my dreams is to write a book, and become a published author. I have been working hard on brainstorming ideas, and manifesting my dream to the universe.
I believe that everyone has a goal inside of them. All you need is to dig deep within yourself, and let the universe know what you would like for yourself.
I am currently planning on writing a life lesson, or a daily affirmation every day. These lessons have either been learned that day, or some point throughout my life. I hope that the lessons I have learnt throughout my years can help someone.
In life, we often fail, many times, more than we care to admit, but that doesn’t mean that we will never be able to reach success. We just have to continue to believe in ourselves, and never give up. Our goals normally take a lot of work, but that’s okay, because it wouldn’t feel as good to accomplish them if they were easy.
Regardless how many fails we have and go through. It does not make us a failure. Please refrain yourself from calling yourself that. We both know that, that is not true.
We may go through a lot of failed attempts with everything, but that does not mean that we can never feel the feeling of success, and feeling successful. In fact, we face a lot of failed attempts, before we reach success. Reaching success mostly comes from failures, and learning from our past mistakes, and realizing those solutions didn’t work.
Today, I will recognize that just because I have failed at something, that doesn’t mean I will never not be successful. It just means that I have to keep on trying to reach success. I have to learn and accept things from my past mistakes and failed attempts. It is usually right after a lot of failure, where we truly get to experience success. We must not give up, or else, we may never experience success.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple: Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/ in your Top Ten Tuesday post.
This week is all about books that you meant to read last year, but the year got away from you, and you didn’t have a chance to read them. Perhaps you can read them this year, I know I will be doing that.
The Queen’s Gambit
I haven’t had the chance to read this book yet, but my interest grew, because I know there is a Netflix series. I have been waiting to get a copy from the library, so I haven’t had a chance to watch the show yet. But I am really excited to check this out. I have heard wonderful things about it. It’s crazy because this book was first published in 1983, and Netflix helped made this book more popular.
2. The Guest List
I love reading thrillers, and this book is the perfect cozy mystery, where there is a murder at a wedding, and everyone there becomes a suspect.
3. Midnight Library
There is a library that showcases books of what might have happened had you made different choices in your life. It is an enchanting tale. I can’t wait to get read it from the library.
4. Anxious People
A bank robbery goes wrong, and the robber runs away from the bank and storms into an apartment of strangers at a viewing. The robber takes the group of strangers for hostage. The strangers realize that they have more in common then they had realized. They realize that they all have secrets and grievances. I have heard that it is an emotional, but humourous.
5. The Chef
I first saw this book at the library, and I got it for my boyfriend to read. He didn’t read it in time, so I had bought it for him for his birthday. I still haven’t read it yet. I plan on reading it soon, since the story takes place just before Mardi Gras. A police detective and a food truck becomes Louisiana’s Most Wanted. He believes that his city is under attack. Although he isn’t exactly sure where what is going to happen, although he only knows that innocent lives are at risk.
6. Little House in the Big Woods
I recently got reunited when I was organizing my belongings. This was in one of my containers from when I finally went through my belongings of my old room from my mom’s. I received the book set for my 13th birthday. It made me sad that my mom and I never finished this series, since life got too busy for us. It’s the real adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family. A cherished story from generations about how her family prepared for cold winters, and how they worked together to ensure they were ready.
7. The Flight Attendant
I kept on seeing the commercial for this show on the TV, and I came to the realization that it is a based off of a book. I was quite intrigued. I was so excited that I was able to get it from my library not too long ago. I just got to finish a few books before I start reading this book. I cannot wait! Cassandra who is a flight attendant and a binge drinker, so blackouts and not being able to remember the night before aren’t uncommon for her. One morning she finds herself waking up in a wrong hotel room, and a man who is laying in his own blood, dead. She has no memory of what happened, and she is far away from home.
8. The Secret Garden
I bought this DVD not too long ago, and I have been meaning to watch it. But I have never read this book before, I would love to do that one day. It’s about a young English girl who moves from England to India after the traumatic loss of both her parents. Her memories of her parents are not pleasant since her parents were selfish, and neglectful. She moves to India to live with her uncle. Upon her arrival she is rude towards her uncle. Once he is away from their home, she discovers a walled garden that is always locked. She then hears a a sobbing sound somewhere in her uncle’s mansions, although the servants ignore her, or pretend they haven’t her concerns. The mystery sparks her interest and curiosity.
9. Charlotte’s Web
The book about friendship, love and death. Charlotte tells her feelings to a pig named Wilbur, who he wants a friend. They express their love for a girl named Fern, who takes care of the pig on her family’s farm. This book always hold a spot in my heart. I loved this book for just over half of my life. I first read it in the seventh grade for a school project.
10. Where the Crawdads Sing
Long ago, people suspected a quiet fishing village was haunted. Kya Clark who lives carefree in the wild. When one day, one of their villagers has died, everyone suspects Kya. But Kya isn’t who everyone thinks she is. She has one day of school, and she learns everything from the wild. There comes a time where she wants to be touched and yearned. Two men become attracted to her ability of being able to survive on her own. She begins to open herself up — until the unthinkable happens. In this thought provoking book about how isolation effects and influences our behaviours. I have heard many great things about this novel, especially since most of us have been isolation from the pandemic of the coronavirus. It is Delia Owens’ debut novel.
I couldn’t really sleep the night before, so I decided it’s best to do something productive with my time. At the same I was always doing something to fall asleep, as well. I began reading some of my book, that helped a bit, but it still wasn’t enough. I began writing in my journal, because I thought maybe I was feeling a bit too stressed out about things. I started thinking about some writing ideas. After I released my thoughts, I just laid there, trying not to think about anything for a couple of minutes.
That didn’t work, so I put on my favourite show, Grey’s Anatomy. That is my comfort show, I must have watched it a million times already. And that seemed to do the trick.
Whenever I can’t fall asleep, I will try to do something productive with my time, instead of just laying there, tossing and turning in my bed. If that doesn’t work, I will try to resort into watching a show, or a movie to help me fall asleep. Or vow to myself to make an evening routine.
I feel so fortunate to have come this far. When I first started this blog, I had no idea, how popular this blog would have gotten. I am so thankful for my followers for their kind words and support throughout the past five and half years. Thank you so much.
From working on my blog, I felt like I have inspired many people. I have also inspired myself, and was able to accomplish some of my goals as well. I have done several challenges and projects already. I have done a Gratitude Challenge, Daily Decluttering, Advent Calendar of Kindness, and now I am currently working on my very own Happiness Project after becoming inspired by reading Gretchen Rubin’s book titled the same title. Feel free to go back and look at the following journeys.

Sometimes it’s better to make better habits, than resolutions. When you make resolutions, of let’s say losing weight, since it is a common resolution, and you don’t plan on either changing your dietary habits, or exercising habits. then you are setting yourself up for failure. You can’t expect to lose weight, if you aren’t willing to change your habits. So it is better to tell yourself to make healthier choices and habits when you can.
Although just know you are more than what you weight, how much money you have in the bank. Your happiness shouldn’t necessarily be tied to any of these following. You shouldn’t let what you don’t or do have has for happiness. It doesn’t really work like that.
I feel like it is healthy to have good habits for money, food and exercise. But you shouldn’t base your happiness off of these things. Your happiness lies in your heart and your mind.
