Presence of Light

Every Friday I post an inspirational quote from Eckhart Tolle’s books. He is a spiritual teacher. He is an author who has published many books teaching and encouraging us to be more mindful. He has even appeared on Oprah Winfrey talk show.

“In this way, you grow in presence power. It generates an energy field in you and around you of a high vibrational frequency. Ni unconsciousness, no negativity, no discord or violence can enter that field and survive, just as darkness cannot survive in the presence of light.”

-Eckhart Tolle, Practicing the Power of Now

In this passage he talking about how us being more mindful can provide us with so many benefits. It can help remove darkness and uncertainty in our lives. When we begin to focus on ourselves and staying in the moment, that is when our lives will truly begin to change, for the better.

When our mindset begins to shift into the present, we tend to forgive our past and everything that has happened up until this point, and we learn not to be anxious about the future, we start to notice the small things in our lives. Like the smell of roses, the sounds of the birds, wind blowing through the leaves, the rain. I feel like once we start to observe the small things in life, it would help us have a calmer mindset, which will help us find the answers to our problems.

Breaking a Habit

So, I just reading Practicing the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It is a great book, so far.

It’s about how to put forth the advice from his previous book into action.

“Make it your practice to withdraw attention from past and future whenever they are not needed. Step out of the time dimension as much as possible in everyday life.”

-Eckhart Tolle

This is something I have been trying to work on in my life. I feel like it’s important to stay in the present. Not only is it important, but it is necessary to live in the present.

Happiness – Eckhart Tolle

What I love about Eckhart Tolle, is that he really makes you want to stay in the present. It makes me more aware of my emotions and feelings. I have noticed that whenever I focus less on the past and future, I am more at peace with myself. I am more relaxed, as well.

“Always say ‘yes’ to the present moment. Say ‘yes’ to life – and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Focusing on the present moment instead of allowing yourself to be dragged down by your past, or allowing yourself feel anxious about the future, is beneficial to a happy life. You allow yourself to be more relaxed and calm. Being calm will help you make wiser and better decisions. This is how you make your life work for you.

Meditate – Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher, and encourages us to make time to meditate. He believes that it would help heal and strengthen the mind and body.

There are many proven benefits from meditation. The purpose of meditation is to restore yourself by bringing calm and allowing yourself to mindful. It increases your attention span, helps you be more patient and improves your sleep.

If you wish to seek the benefits of meditation, I would suggest starting really small, especially if you never practiced before. I would suggest meditating five minutes a day, for a week, and then perhaps do 10 minutes the following week. You can keep increasing your intervals, if you like, or just stick to what is comfortable.

For a habit to stick, it is important to start small, and build up your confidence.

Strengthening Your Immune System

I love Eckhart Tolle, he is a spiritual teacher, who inspires us to embrace the present, and live in the now. Every Friday (or sometimes Saturday), I write and talk about one of his insights from his book The Power of Now, which I am currently reading.

“Another benefit of this practice (in the book, he is talking about being more conscious of your body) in the physical realm is a great strengthening of the immune system, which occurs when you inhabit the body. The more consciousness you bring into the body, the stronger the immune system becomes. It is as if every cell awakens and rejoices.”

-Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

He is expressing the fact that when you learn to take a few minutes every day, and just pause from the rest of the world, you will be able to strengthen your immune system. The reason you are able to strengthen your immune system is by allowing yourself to be still, increases your body’s frequency, which makes it harder for things like fear, depression, anxiety to live in your body. Those negative energy enter our bodies because they fiend on lower frequencies, which is why it is so easy for them to enter our bodies.

If you are able to get your body functioning on a high body frequency, no negative emotions can bring you down, or exist in your thought process. There isn’t a better time to focus on strengthening your immune system than the now.

Find Yourself

“You cannot find yourself by going into the past. You find yourself by coming into the present.”

-Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now, page 91

What I like about this quote is that he encourages us to be present. Although yes, we can learn things from our past, but when you are truly finding yourself, you should be in the present. Being in the present allows you to see and feel what you truly want in life. I like to spend time being alone with my thoughts, it really helps me concentrate on what I am thinking. It also helps me write and blog better.

I also feel like when you are quiet and still all of the answers come to you. This helps me realize what I should do next. So whenever you feel lost, and not sure what to do next, allow yourself to sit and be still, and listen to your intuition, and you’ll know what to do next.

Never Lose Yourself

It’s another Eckhart Tolle Friday. It’s where I talk about a quote from Eckhart Tolle. He is a spiritual teacher and reminds us to stay in the present moment. I came across this picture in my Facebook memories from a few years ago.

What I love about this picture and quote is that it lets us know that no matter what our possessions that we own, may come and go, but who we are as a person never leaves.

Some people own things to only replace it for the “next best thing”. But the qualities that makes us remain with us. We never lose them. And if we are lost, and going through something, those hardships will help us find who we are, in case we don’t already know who we are. No matter where we are going, we always find our true selves, and never lose ourselves. Despite our hardships, we always become the person we are destined to become.

Your Choice

Another Friday means it’s another Eckhart Tolle Friday.

“Whatever the present present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Some times, life throws an obstacle, or maybe more obstacles your way. But the thing you have to look at it, is that not everything that is happening to you is going to bad. When things are bad, they often are overlooked, and actually turn into something good. Take your bad days and experiences and think of it as a flower about to be planted. And that all of your dark times, are actually from the soil pouring over you, because you are about to be planted, waiting to blossom into something beautiful.

So, whatever is happening to you, you have to accept it as if it something you would have wanted for yourself. Never allow a bad experience spoil your day. Please know that things will get better and easier over time. A piece of art takes time to unfold into a masterpiece.

Don’t let yourself dwell in sadness and allow yourself to get frustrated with whatever situation you are in. When things get tough, remind yourself to accept this as something you would have wanted to happen. Honestly, you can’t have a rainbow without a storm. So use this lesson to remind yourself that things will get better.

Joy and Ease

“As soon as you honour the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle is a famous a spiritual teacher. He also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He has published several books discussing on life changing it is to stay present. In fact his The Power of Now is featured in the Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club. But I started reading this book as a recommendation from one of my friends, that was reading this book.

What I love about this quote is how freeing it is. Whenever we spend time looking back in the past, or stressing out about the future, we are allowing ourselves to let the past or our future imprison us from the now. Eckhart Tolle reminds us is to remain in the now, and to not let anything disturb us from this present moment. When you finally decide to let go everything that holds you back, you will realize that all you really need is to be present.

Buddha’s definition of enlightenment, is the end of suffering. Once we begin to focus on the now, that is when you can finally free yourself. That is when we truly feel at peace, and happiness can finally blossom.

Worry – Eckhart Tolle

Today is another Eckhart Tolle Friday! Tolle had an epiphany when he was just 29 years old, which he began choosing inner peace, and later became a spiritual teacher. In 2008, The New York Times Tolle “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”. He was also a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show.

“Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Tolle is known for being in the now, and doesn’t allow the anticipation of the future or the guilt from past get in his way of living a meaningful life.

So, it makes sense that he would say that worrying is not necessary, and is something that makes it more difficult to stay in the moment. Worrying is a waste of energy, because these things may not even occur, and they rob us of the beauty in this moment.

Learn to not worry so much, and instead focus on this moment instead.
