Goodreads Mondays #14 – January 18th, 2021

This is a post about us discussing one of the books in our To Be Read List and talking about why we would like to read it. I would love to know what is on your To Be Read List.

I don’t know who knows this, but I have a lot of books on my To Be Read List. I wish I had enough to read all of the books in the whole world. But I am trying my best to make a big dent with my books this year.

One of the books on my To Be Read List is The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I would love to read this because it has romance, history and fantasy with the time travelling. It is about a girl named Claire who is celebrating her second honeymoon with her husband after World War II, but she suddenly becomes an “Outlander” when she is magically transported into 1743. I want to read the books, so I can watch the show on Netflix. I always prefer to read the books, before I watch the movie, or show.

What is something you wish to read soon?

If I Wasn’t So Small

Today is Winnie the Pooh Day, since A.A. Milne was born on January 18th, 1882. He is mostly known for his creation of Winnie the Pooh. I love watching Winnie the Pooh, it is a really great story. So I thought I can write about him and his friends today and acknowledge Milne for my Music Mondays.

What I love about this song is that it doesn’t matter if you were born small, what matters is what is in your heart. We shouldn’t measure people by how tall they are, but instead we should measure how big their hearts are.

“It’s not as if I want to rule the world
Or even the forest
Or even one tree
I suppose I could be happy
If I could be helpful
With just a little bit of noticing me”

-Carly Simon, If I Wasn’t So Small

Captain of Your Soul

It’s time to start our weeks out with positive vibes. We need to regain confidence in ourselves. Sometimes we are guilty of doubting ourselves, or that we let other people decide what we should do next, rather than us simply listening to our hearts. We are the captain of our soul, no one else is.

It is okay, to seek advice from others, but we shouldn’t give them the power to make all of our decisions for us. We should only seek guidance and their opinions to help us make a decision, but don’t let someone make decisions on behalf of yourself.

Some days it may be harder to believe in yourself, but it is absolutely necessary.

Day 18

It’s important to try and schedule a day, or a half day of relaxation once a week. To have a day where you can truly enjoy yourself is a great feeling. I know they are people who are parents, and may have a difficult time being able to find time to relax, especially with young children. But hopefully you are still able to find some time to yourself. It can do wonders to the body.

My day has always been Sundays because I love eating great food and watching football. I have always loved watching football. It’s one of my favourites past times. I also like to relax by reading, taking a bath, and cooking.

Today, I will find time so I can relax throughout my day. It is important for us to unwind, and not have time to worry about errands, or anything else.

Day 17

Life can come at us fast, so it’s important for us to take things one day at a day. It’s necessary for us to slow down. Learn to be in the moment. You don’t have to accomplish 500 things in a day to feel accomplished. Learn to feel accomplished by completing three tasks.

Learn to do things as they come to you. Life is almost like laundry, once the washing machine stops, you put the clothes in the dryer. You just have to take life as it comes. There is no need to rush life, or the need to know everything all at once. Life is lived one day at a time for reason. So don’t feel bad if you don’t know what to do next. Give yourself some time to figure what to do next.

I did not always believe in this, about how I should learn to take life slowly, and how I should live one day at a time until a few years ago. And ever since then, I noticed I was able to relax more because I wasn’t stressing out about things months away. I learned that sometimes it’s okay to not know everything at once. Whatever you are meant to know, will come to you when you need to know something. There is no reason to stress.

Today, I will accept that life is meant to be lived one day at a time, so I should only focus on things that are relevant for the day. By focusing my time and energy on today, I will be able to relax more instead of worrying about my tomorrows, and more tomorrows after that.

Day 16

I will learn to dedicate “no dumping zones” to help reduce clutter in my house. Let’s say for instance you love filling up your coffee table, or dining room table with mail, laundry, books, etc. to the point where it just keeps on collecting clutter, to the point the table cannot be used. Once you begin placing clutter on any surface, it begins to attract more clutter. It’s like a magnet.

When you vow to stop clutter from being placed on these spaces, then you might just start appreciating the beauty of simplicity. I love seeing a clear and clean coffee table. It truly is a lovely practice to start.

Since I have gotten rid of a lot of things throughout last year, it’s time to do a bit of rearranging and organizing. Toss, restore and organizing is part of my resolution for January. I am starting to feel quite proud of myself to do engage in this project. It has been really helpful.

Today, I will declare no dumping zones in my house. Instead of simply just dumping items on counter tops, or tables, I will learn to put things in their place.

My 1600th Post

I feel so fortunate to have come this far. When I first started this blog, I had no idea, how popular this blog would have gotten. I am so thankful for my followers for their kind words and support throughout the past five and half years. Thank you so much.

From working on my blog, I felt like I have inspired many people. I have also inspired myself, and was able to accomplish some of my goals as well. I have done several challenges and projects already. I have done a Gratitude Challenge, Daily Decluttering, Advent Calendar of Kindness, and now I am currently working on my very own Happiness Project after becoming inspired by reading Gretchen Rubin’s book titled the same title. Feel free to go back and look at the following journeys.

If you feel inspired from this blog, I encourage you to spread the word to your family, and friends. I feel like I have a wide range of different topics for everyone’s interests.

I love my blog, and I hope that I am able to help others along the way. I hope that my community of followers can increase as well. I hope we have a great 2021. I hope it’s filled with joyous memories, and new adventures. Thank you again for all of your support. Please continue to support Three Yellow Daisies throughout the year, as well.

Write Down Your Goals

Every Friday, I write ways we can try to boost our moods. These are fairly simple things to do like in the previous posts I suggest making a bed. It’s part of my Feel Good Fridays post. I love writing these posts as well.

I know that maybe people may have written resolutions for the year. Some of us may or may not have have given up on these resolutions already. Which it is okay if you have, there’s still time to spring back into action. But what if we try a different approach? What if we make a list of things that we want to do, or can achieve by the end of the year. We can make them as hard or as easy as we like, how much fun, or personal growth we would like to have for the year. You can write about anything your heart desires. We can write about 21 things we wish to accomplish this year.

This idea crossed my mind, but I finally put the idea to action when I see that Gretchen Rubin did this idea, too. Her and I have great ideas. Her idea for last year was 20 minutes of walking.

Perhaps one of them is reading a certain number of books, or pages. Or you can talk about writing a novel, or at least the first draft, or even just write about an idea. Or maybe you want to save up a certain amount of money. Or it could be to start a family, or move out. There are so many things that you can work towards. Never settle for less. And never doubt how truly great you are.

You don’t have to have all 21 ideas right now, but even if you spend some time thinking about what you would like to accomplish this year, than that would be great, too. There are still 350 days left of the year to accomplish whatever you like to accomplish.

Day 15

We need to learn to let go of things that no longer serves us. This can be anything from physical objects, to digital clutter, to our feelings. We let go of the negative things and emotions, we now have more room for the things that bring us joy. We can feel happiness, we can truly appreciate the remaining processions. Instead of not being able to see them throughout the clutter.

If we continue to hold on to negative things, and feelings, then we are just going to continue to attract more negativity in our lives. And that is the last thing we want in our lives.

Today, I will learn when enough has become enough. I will release anything that has any negative vibes in my life. This way I am able to attract good and better things in my life. This also allows me to see things more clearly.

Thankful Thursdays #29 – January 14th, 2021

I cannot believe how fast January is moving on by. It feels like it is just going by too fast.

I love writing and talking about what I am thankful for. I feel like I have a lot to thankful for. Here is a list of things that I am thankful for. I would love to hear what you are all thankful for.

  1. I got to unwind last weekend, by watching all of the football games. I love watching football! It’s one my favourite sports to watch. Although I am sad, because it is almost the off season again.
  2. I got to babysit my niece. Her and I always have a lot of fun together. I love her so much.
  3. She got a plastic musical tea set for Christmas, so her and I had a mini “tea” party. She is almost two, so it was all pretend, but it was still fun. The plastic set also comes with pieces of cake, and plates.
  4. It was a nice enough day so I was able to take her to the park. She loved it.
  5. My boyfriend and I have been enjoying our home cooked meals since we have been cutting back on take out. And cooking is a lot of fun. I have been cooking in the crock pot, which means I cook and prepare in the mornings, and don’t have a lot of dishes to do later in the evening.
